After the staff was introduced to Web 2.0 tools, they dove right in and started tweeking their lessons.

Windows Movie Maker (Published on Teacher Tube)
Below are three examples of how Windows Movie Maker are used in the classroom. One teacher had students create a movie bring light to the human rights violations in Sierra Leone. (Diamonds Are Forever) Another teacher emailed all of the staff regarding a food drive that the middle school was running. The video, Hunger, was published as a way of communicating to the entire building the need for a food drive in our area. "Hunger" was created and produced by middle school students. Finally, a science teacher assigned a reivew project for students in his Earth Science class by making videos of a chapter and publishing them for other students to benefit. This video is a model of what the expectations are for the assignment.

Toondoo
A math teacher created a cartoon illustrating the trigonometric formula pneumonic- SOH CAH TOA. Students then took the next step of creating their own cartoon as well as their own phase to help them remember.

An English teacher has published her voki on her blog posing questions for the students to answer regarding Regents review questions.

What is the WNY-PLP ning?
A virtual community designed to help participants gain an understanding of the transformative potential of Web 2.0 tools in a global perspective and context, and how those potentials can be translated into classroom practice in Western NY schools.

Who is involved?
School districts in Erie, Niagara, and Cattaraugus counties.

When did we start?
Each district began the journey in November 2007. Our experience is intended to continue so we can develop our individual schools and bring everyone, students and teachers, into the 21st Century.
